Cadettes overcame Turkey 56-49 in the opening match of the International
              Tournament of Cognac last night.

Despite having only eight fit players for the match as a result
of injury, England finished with a confidence-boosting win to begin
              this tournament in southern France.

The first three quarters saw a tight battle between the teams. Turkey
went into the locker room at halftime leading by one, while England
fought back in the third and finished the period leading 39-35.

However, it was the final quarter when England capitalized on their
inside height advantage and jumped to a commanding 12-point lead
with two minutes remaining. Turkey could only pull within seven
points before the final whistle went ending the match.

Doncaster's Helen Naylor led the England scorers with 22 points,
while her Northampton team-mate, Angelina Browne, was close behind
pouring in 20. Nottingham Wildcats, Siobhan Prior, added some backcourt
scoring as she netted 8 for the victors.

England will face another tough challenge later today.
