England
Basketball is pleased to announce the first Guard Camp created
specifically for female national team players at the age group
level. The camp will be held at the John Amaechi Basketball Centre
on May 31st and June 1st, 2003. Saturday, May 31st will begin
at 11:00am and the course will finish the following day at 3:00pm.
Jeff Jones, Director of Coaching for England Basketball, has invited
senior women’s head coach Brani Bazany to head the camp.
Mr. Bazany will be assisted by Mr. Jones as well as selected coaches
from around the country.
National Teams Coaches will nominate five players who they believe
should attend and will benefit from such a camp. It will surely
be a great step for the development of women’s basketball
in England. Recent superb performances in Scotland and Croatia
have proven how far the women’s programme has come over
the years. National Teams Head Coaches or Assistant Coaches are
also invited to attend the camp.
Dip Donaldson, England Basketball’s Director of National
Teams, is fully supportive of this initiative and hopes to see
some of England’s best and brightest young talent at the
camp in Manchester.
