TCS Chester Jets’ explosive guard Trey Moore has netted the BBL Player of the Month award for January.
The league’s leading scorer, who averages 24.38 points per game, led Chester’s scoring in every game in January, spearheading the first placed team to a record of 7-1 for the month.
The highlights for the 29 year-old included 22 points and 7 assists and 26 points, 16 assists, 7 rebounds and 6 steals in the two games against his former club Birmingham Bullets. He posted 30 points, 10 assists and 5 steals against Leicester Riders and in the top of the table clash with Springfield Honda Newcastle Eagles at the end of the month he scored 31 points with 3 assists.
Moore has shown this season that he has all the credentials of a great guard. He is ranked as the BBL’s leading scorer, is eighth in assists (4.63apg), third in steals (2.63spg) and shoots 52.81% from the floor complimented by 75% accuracy from the line.
The Mississippi State graduate is in his second season in the BBL and has shown his desire to win silverware with his move to the Jets. The only down point for him in January was missing out on a shot at the BBL Trophy as the Jets lost in the Semi-Finals..
Moore fought off his teammate D.J Harrison to claim this accolade with 29% of the vote. Also up for the prize was Brighton’s Ajou Deng, Plymouth’s Terrence Durham and Leicester’s Mike New.
