GBR met Brazil at basketball today their last match before the playoffs for the final positions. A nervous start with too many turnovers and too many fouls given away saw GBR 15-11 up at the end of the first quarter. Refiloe Lethunya had already amassed 3 fouls.

GBR changed tactics to a zone defence in the second quarter which initially helped especially with Neil Fingleton playing. Brazil however started to shoot well so GBR reverted to man to man. GBR were still leading at the end of the half with the score at 31 - 26.

Brazil turned to zone defence in the third quarter and outplayed GBR. Heads down a dispirited GBR allowed them to dominate 49-40 at the end of the third quarter and 72-58 at full time.

Junior Williams had a tournament high of 15 points

Having lost two games in their group GBR now have to settle to play off for 9th to 12th place. Their opponents will only be known following the completion of the games in this round on Wednesday.
